Bug Experience
Children will learn about different bugs through counting legs, observing and exploring stuffed bugs, and getting to see live bugs up close.
Recurring Programming
Have Elytra Education visit your school on a recurring schedule! We offer programming weekly, monthly, and quarterly. Please contact for pricing. Our programs include:
- Pop-up Play Room. Have us visit your school and set up our awesome collection of activities/stations for preschoolers, all about bugs! We can have up to 20 students at a time. $150 for two hours, with each additional hour being $50. Our stations include our Traveling Zoo (observe live insects), Insect Dress Up (insect-themed toddler costumes), Light Play (explore insects with a light table), Buggy Book Nook (a quiet tent stocked with our bug library), and Open Bug Play (discover our big collection of insect toys)
- Bug of the Month. Each month we will cover a new and amazing arthropod, from spiders to mosquitoes to dragonflies. Every visit will include a 30 minute presentation where students will learn about where to find this month’s bug, photos of the bug in their habitats, what roles they play in their environment, and real specimens (alive or preserved).
- Classroom Crafts. Let us run an age-appropriate insect-themed art activity for your class. We provide the supplies, set up and clean up - and of course, your students can keep their art!
- Buggy Storytime . 30 minute bug-themed story time. Read stories with us from around the world about bugs with large stuffed versions of the characters, and real specimens from these stories. Great for science sections!

Classroom visits
Bug Experience
Students will meet live animals to learn about the difference between arthropods, insects, arachnids, and true bugs. A large focus on this presentation is the roles arthropods play in their environments and how to interact with them. We love to work with teachers to adjust the presentation to fit the topics your class is learning!
Ask an Entomologist
Why do centipedes have so many legs? Where do moths go in the winter? Why do ants like picnics so much? If your students have some burning entomology questions, we love to answer them! FOR FREE!!! We even schedule 20-minute Zoom interviews for Science Fair or other school projects that your kids have that are bug related.
Older students
Bug Experience
Students will learn about the difference between arthropods, insects, arachnids, and true bugs. A large focus on this presentation is the roles arthropods play in their environments and how to interact with them. We love to work with teachers to adjust the presentation to fit the topics your class is learning! Potential topics include:
Lifelong learners
Animal Encounters
45 minute programs with live insects and arachnids. Learn about the bugs that live around us, and the ones across the globe, what role they play in their environments, and dispel myths you may have heard. Grandchildren and families encouraged!
Insect Crafts
Make some insect art with Elytra Education! We provide the materials, set up, and clean up for various different arts and craft projects centered around the natural beauty of bugs. These programs are great for all experience levels, and accommodate memory care residents.
Daytime Lectures
Let our entomologist come and fill your day with a 30-45 minute lecture on local insects, entomology, and human-insect relationships. Great for early afternoon groups, and for those missing academia. Lectures will come with preserved specimens of the lecture topic.

Bug Experience
Families will learn about different bugs through counting legs, observing and exploring stuffed bugs, and getting to see live bugs up close. This works great for toddler, no-school, and summer programming!
Brownies Bug Badge
Covers all the badge requirements: bug poster, bug craft (supplies included), live bugs in action, meet an insect professional, and exploring bug homes. Troops must supply their own badges.
Buggy Story Time
Library-length insect story time with stuffed characters and preserved specimens. We do have our own collection of insect stories, but are always happy to collaborate with librarians! Excellent for baby and toddler story times, stay and plays, or other reading time programming.
